It is important to lead a healthy life!
In this article, I will cover 3 ways to clean a plunger:
The Traditional Way
The Organic Way
The Quick n’ Dirty Way
Since the average toilet plunger is the filthiest thing in almost any bathroom, knowing how to sanitize it is a good idea. You can clean your toilet plunger using a variety of germ-killing materials, such as bleach and vinegar. However, the essential strategy involves thoroughly soaking your plunger in the disinfectant of your choice.
The Organic Way
Not only for cleaning but going organic is also the best way for all things. In an organic way, cleaning a plunger with apple cider vinegar can annihilate a laundry list of germs. This is really helpful for keeping your toilet clean and healthy. The acetic acid in 5% apple cider vinegar has nearly identical germ-busting power to chlorine bleach.
You will need:
5% apple cider vinegar
How to do:
Prepare the solution: Mix a solution of 5% apple cider vinegar and water. You can use equal parts of vinegar and water or adjust the ratio.
Soak the plunger: Submerge the plunger in the vinegar-water solution. Make sure the entire plunger is covered by the liquid.
Let it soak: Allow the plunger to soak in the solution for at least 30 minutes to an hour.
Scrub: After soaking, use a scrub brush or sponge to scrub the plunger, focusing on any areas with stubborn stains or residue.
Dry: Allow the plunger to air dry completely before storing it away. Make sure it’s completely dry to prevent any mold or mildew growth.
Optional: If the plunger is still dirty or has a strong odor, you can repeat the process until it’s clean and odor-free.
The Traditional Way
This is a foolproof way to sanitize your plunger and works well for cleaning your toilet plunger.
You will need:
Liquid chlorine bleach
How to do:
Prepare the Solution: Dilute the liquid chlorine bleach with water. The typical ratio for cleaning solutions is about 1 part bleach to 10 parts water. You can adjust this ratio.
Soak the Plunger: Submerge the plunger in the bleach-water solution. Ensure that the entire plunger is covered by the liquid.
Let it Soak: Allow the plunger to soak in the bleach solution for about 30 minutes to an hour.
Scrub: After soaking, use a scrub brush or sponge to scrub the plunger, focusing on any areas with stubborn stains or residue.
Rinse thoroughly: Once you’ve finished scrubbing, rinse the plunger thoroughly with clean water to remove any remaining bleach solution.
Dry: Allow the plunger to air dry completely before storing it away. Make sure it’s completely dry to prevent any mold or mildew growth.
The Quick Dirty Way
Okay, let’s try something new. If you don’t like methods one or two, let’s jump into the third method.
You will need:
Aerosol disinfectant
A plastic grocery bag
How to do:
